A perfect Lapland Summer Cycling Holiday for all types of cyclists Taking a different direction each day across a range of surfaces - tarmac around the villages, forest tracks, rocky mountain paths, boggy peat, shingle and dirt roads through fells, moors and forests, and around lakes and rivers. Although there are few real hills and the landscape is relatively flat, the journey has some difficult sections to test the rider (standard plan routing is easier, see below). You will be accompanied by an experienced English-speaking guide throughout the safari (standard routing) and will overnight in cabins, hotels or guest houses along the trails.
Day 1: Arrive in Rovaniemi and transfer to your accommodation in Luosto. Meet the guide and the other members of the safari and collect your bike.Overnight: Luosto - cabin with facilities.
Day 2-6: Each day you will cycle through the beautiful fells and forests of the Luosto region, traverse the countryside and enjoy new and varying scenery. Meal at lunch times will normally be around a campfire and everyone will help prepare the fire and food. Overnight: In cabin, hotel or guest house with facilities.
Day 7: Make your way back to Luosto for your final night. Overnight: Luosto.
Day 8: Relax in Luosto before returning to the airport for your journey home or spending some time in the resort trying your hand at a range of other activities.
All-terrain bikes New Swedish manufactured (Crescent) bikes with 21 twist-grip Shimano gears, front suspension, padded saddle, stand, upright handlebars, mudguards and adjustable helmets. A relaxed tour with an average of 30 kilometres per day over fairly easy terrain. More experienced riders can avail of more challenging forest tracts (unescorted) which are more hilly than the standard plan and can participate in short unescorted trips in the evening. Standard plan routing covers asphalt and pitch roads plus forest roads and tracts. Your leader/guide will cycle the planned route with the group allowing individuals seeking a more demanding challenge to depart and follow a separate mapped itinerary. Luggage is transferred between accommodations by a small van.
