With non-painting partners welcome it offers a good opportunity to have a taster of Lapland’s beautiful scenery and experience the activities we have on offer. Based at the Flying Reindeer Lodge in Luosto our painting holiday of one weeks’ duration cover tuition in the areas of landscape painting in watercolour, oil, pastel etc. The course is appropriate for all ability levels, the groups being small (10 to 13 persons and, if appropriate, accompanying non painting partners). Advanced artistic skills certainly are not necessary for you to enjoy this holiday equally one shouldn’t expect this course to turn you into an expert overnight . Rather it is hoped that you should learn plenty, both from your tutor and fellow participants whilst appreciating the surrounding nature at it’s finest.

Four tours are offered to this outstanding location. Our late May departure  enables you to capture the last remaining signs of spring and the snows of winter on the hills. Our 2 Midnight Sun departures represent views totally unique to the Arctic Regions with a cornucopia of colours and our Ruska departure is best represented as being similar to the Fall in the USA. In addition Lapland being home to reindeer and huskies there is the opportunity for additional sketching opportunities available to capture these animals in their natural setting.

Students should bring  their materials with them as the nearest small town of Sodankyla is located some 40 kilometres from Luosto. Naturally however, easels and tables cushions and fold up chairs will be provided locally.

Non painting partners will be able to avail of the full range of excursions that are featured within the programme with departures directly from Luosto throughout the week.

The tour cost includes full board and transportation to various settings in the Luosto locality. Your accommodation for this holiday is provided in the Flying Reindeer Lodge which was fully refurbished in 2003. An easy way to describe this quality accommodation would be to state that it is a mixture of a traditional log wood lodge and a European Style catered chalet. All rooms have their own private power sensor shower and wc. Location is excellent within the locality being some 400 meters from the centre of this unspoilt village.
